The Riverland Community College Foundation will be hosting its second year of Empty Bowls, a fundraiser to fight food insecurity for students on Feb. 23, 2023, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Riverland’s West Building of the Austin Campus Cafeteria, Room A235.

Riverland 2022-2023 theatre season continues with a concert staging of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man February 17-19. Riverland’s Theatre will be joined by Riverland Music’s College Choir, the Northwestern Singers, and a live orchestra.

Riverland Community College theatre faculty staff and students had some triumphs at the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Des Moines, IA, January 22-28, 2023.

The Minnesota State Farm Business Management (FBM) program is excited to celebrate its 70^th year of offering educational programming to students. In 1953, the FBM program was established to educate active farmers in Minnesota using a student-centered, one-on-one instructional approach. FBM has grown from humble beginnings to over 2,800 students today. FBM will recognize this growth and more during their year-long celebration, ending with a recognition celebration in September.

Minnesota State, the system of 26 state colleges and seven state universities, released today the results of a study that estimates the impact of Riverland Community College’s three campuses on the regional economy to be $158.1 million and 1,210 jobs.

Marc Serrett has been named Riverland Community College’s new Vice President of Employee Relations and Human Resources. He started his position Monday.

The Minnesota State Transportation Center of Excellence has named Riverland Community College Automotive Technology Instructor Olle Gladso, 2022 Outstanding Educator of the Year.

Riverland Community College recently secured a $348,486 in grant funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. The NSF-ATE funding will be used to support the “Educating Autonomous Vehicle Technicians” project being launched by Riverland’s Automotive Service Technology program. Riverland instructor Olle Gladso will be the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project.

Minnesota State University, Mankato and Riverland Community College announced Monday they have collaborated on a partnership known as the Maverick (Nursing) Advance (Transfer) Plan, or “MAP,” between the Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Riverland and the 100 percent online Registered Nurse (RN) Baccalaureate Completion degree from Minnesota State Mankato.

Riverland Theatre’s final production of the 2021-2022 season will be an evening of one-act plays: The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang and The Audition by Matt Thompson.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) launched a new program that will enable Minnesotans to order free rapid COVID-19 tests online for delivery directly to their homes and campus mail. We want to make sure you can promote this free program so your students, staff, and faculty are able to take advantage of this program and get their free tests before the supply is exhausted.

Riverland Theatre continues its 2021-2022 season with the cult classic musical Little Shop of Horrors. 

The Riverland Community College Foundation will be hosting an Empty Bowls fundraiser to fight food insecurity for students on March 24, 2022 from 11:30 to 1 p.m.

The event is a partnership between Riverland’s ceramics students and the Riverland Foundation. The event will feature one-of-a-kind “empty bowls” created by Riverland’s ceramic students and faculty to build awareness about food insecurity issues.   Advance tickets are necessary and available for sale at www.riverland.edu/emptybowls.

Nominations are open for the 2022 Riverland Community College Distinguished Alumni Award which recognizes contributions Riverland alumni make and increases the pride all alumni, students, staff and faculty have for Riverland.

Riverland Theatre continues its fall season with Anne of Green Gables, a one-act play adaptation of the classic novel by L.M. Montgomery. Anne of Green Gables will be performed Nov. 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Frank W. Bridges Theatre on Riverland’s Austin Campus.

Riverland Community College has named Christy Tryhus as new academic dean of Business, Social Sciences, Public Safety, and Customized Training. She starts her new position Sept. 29.
