The musical hit Spamalot finally comes home to Spamtown, USA and the Summerset stage

Monty Python’s Spamalot will open on August 1 as the final show in Summerset Theatre’s 46th season. The Tony Award-winning Broadway hit finally makes its Spamtown, USA debut! Monty Python’s Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and features beautiful show girls, flying cows, killer rabbits, French people…and, of course, plenty of everyone’s favorite canned ham. The book and lyrics are by Eric Idle, and music is by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. This show is recommended for ages 12 and older due to some language and adult humor.
Lindsey Duoos Williams directs and choreographs Monty Python’s Spamalot. Sue Jorgensen is the musical director. The set and lighting designer is Jim Mallek. The sound designer is Kristine Iverson. The costumes are by Carley Carranza and Jennifer Wiebrand. Melissa Johnson is the stage manager.
“Of course Summerset has wanted to perform Monty Python’s Spamalot for quite some time,” said Summerset Theatre Executive Director and the show’s director/choreographer Lindsey Duoos Williams. “This musical is the perfect fit for Austin. We’ve had a lot of fun making this production our own; we’ve hidden some special references in the show that local residents will enjoy. I’ve been telling people that this might just be the SPAM-iest production of Spamalot yet! We’ll also have a different surprise “celebrity” cameo each night—though we won’t tell you who it’s going to be!”
The cast for Monty Python’s Spamalot includes David Rask Behling (Sir Robin), Mary Burroughs (Ensemble), Meghan Burroughs (Ensemble), Scott Burroughs (Knight of Ni), Jennifer Bute (Ensemble), Eve Cowan (Ensemble), David Dahlquist (Monk), Ben Deines (Guard), Gabe Deyo (Frenchie), Max Deyo (Sir Bors), Jerry Girton (Historian/Brother Maynard), Brian Gorman (Sir Galahad), Jake Gustine (Fred/Tim), Dominic Hillberg (Minstrel), Alice Holst (Mother), Annie Holtz (Ensemble), Jessica Jayes (Ensemble), Lucas Johnson (King Arthur), Robert Johnson (Patsy), Travis Kasper (Lancelot), Dick McIntosh (Monk), Linda McIntosh (Ensemble), Claire Olson (Ensemble), Eric Olson (Father), Kaye Perry (The Lady of the Lake), Calder Pfeifer (Herbert), Peter Torkelson (Concorde), Victoria Torkelson (Ensemble), Pat Trotman (Taunter), Emma Waters (Ensemble), Jennifer Wiebrand (Ensemble), Vic Wylde (Black Knight), and James Zschunke (Sir Bedevere).
“This is a truly all-star cast,” said Williams. “We have a great mix of local favorites, some familiar faces that haven’t been seen on our stage for a few years, and some fantastic new talent. The singing voices are phenomenal, but what’s really impressive is how funny they all are. There are many speaking parts in the show that fans of the movie will recognize, and so it was a lot of fun to be able to feature so many talented people in those roles.”
Monty Python’s Spamalot will open on August 1 at 7:30 pm. Other performances are August 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 pm. All performances are held at the Frank W. Bridges Theatre on the Austin campus of Riverland Community College.
