Riverland Community College is pleased to announce the students whose academic achievement placed them on the 2021spring president’s and dean’s lists. Riverland congratulates these individuals for their outstanding academic accomplishments.

The trucking industry has been taking a bit of a detour lately.

Driver numbers are declining as the trucking business need keeps increasing.

Jonathan Rymer is an instructor at Riverland Community and Technical College.

"Most of the folks that are retiring, they've worked thirty, forty years in it. And they're retiring," he said. "There's just not enough young folks to come and replace them."

A house built as a collaboration between the Riverland Community College Carpentry and Electrical program and the Austin Housing Redevelopment Authority will soon be on the market.

Riverland Community College Theatre continues its 2020-2021 season with a musical adaptation of As You Like It that will be prerecorded and available as video on demand.

Getting into college after high school may be tough for some, but there's a program in Austin looking to make the transition easier. 

It's called the R-STEP Academy. It's a free program for teens and young adults ages 16 to 22 to have an opportunity to prepare for college by taking college level math, writing and career exploration courses like STEM.

You can get tested at a Minnesota Department of Health Community Testing Site or by ordering an At-Home Saliva Test. 

Everyone visiting campus should do the daily Home Screening Assessment prior to visiting a campus location.

In addition to these grants, Riverland students receive generous support through The Hormel Foundation Austin Assurance Scholarship program as well.  This semester we have 234 Austin and Pacelli high school graduates from the classes of 2019 and 2020 enrolled here at Riverland.  This scholarship has a significant impact on our FYE and the success of these students.

Riverland Community College Theatre Director Lindsey Duoos Williams announced the Theatre Department’s 2020-2021 season today. The season will rise to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing the same high-quality shows audiences have come to expect with flexible delivery formats.

Next Thursday, Nov. 12 from 12-1 Riverland Community College in conjunction with Central Lakes College is hosting a live virtual reading from US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo.

Riverland Community College celebrated the completion of its new Transportation, Trade and Industrial Center Friday at the Albert Lea campus with a group of area legislators, state education and college officials, students and others.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has published academic research conducted by students at 16 colleges, including Riverland Community College Zeta Eta’s, “Transforming Negative Community College Stigma into Positive Action.”

The Minnesota State presidents of the member colleges of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) which includes Riverland Community College met to determine how to move forward with intercollegiate athletics for fall semester in light of COVID-19.

The presidents reaffirmed the commitment to protecting the health of student athletes. In consideration of the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health, fall sports will be limited to those that have been identified as low-risk, Clay Target and Golf. Seasons have been canceled for football, volleyball, and soccer.

As more businesses are allowed to reopen, Riverland Community College has also reopened our buildings at the Austin Campus’ East and West Buildings and our Albert Lea Campus as of July 6, 2020. The Owatonna Campus will open July 20, 2020. The service hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless you have classes or appointments that state otherwise.

• Monday’s opening marked the first time the Riverland campuses have been open to the public since closing in mid-march for the safety of students and employees and protect all from the COVID-19 virus.
