Riverland Community College Foundation and Athletic Booster Club golf fundraiser provides funds for college athletic programs

The Riverland Community College Foundation and the Riverland Athletic department hosted the 27th annual Blue Devils Athletics Golf Fundraiser June 2 at the Austin Country Club. This year, 83 golfers participated to raise more than $17,000. Through the years, this event has raised more than $155,000 to support Riverland Athletic teams like baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer.
The event included an 18-hole tournament in a four-person scramble format, dinner with a program, and a silent auction. Special events on the course included prize contests on every hole in addition to the Fuhrman Shoot Out, the Donker’s Shoot Out, the Streater’s Shoot out, the Y Waste Removal Garbage game, and the Accentra Credit Union Putting contest.
Major sponsors of the event included Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea and Austin, Streater, Inc., Hill, Larson, Walth & Benda Streater, Inc., Riverland Community College, Dunham Sports, Fuhrman Real Estate, Hy-Vee of Austin and Albert Lea, Apollo Liquor, Culligan Water of Albert Lea and Hormel Foods, along with many other hole sponsors and silent auction donations from local businesses.
“The support from local businesses in the region is outstanding,” said Steve Bowron, Riverland Community College dean for institutional advancement. “The funds raised through this event enable Riverland Community College to improve our athletic programs, attract premium athletes, and stay competitive.”
