CDL Training Process at Riverland: Step-by-Step Guide
Start Your CDL Training in Four Simple Steps
Getting your Commercial Driver’s License with Riverland is easier than you think. Follow the steps below and start your training right away.
Step 1: Complete Online Theory Training
- Begin with our online, self-paced course using the D2L learning platform. You’ll learn through reading, videos, and quizzes based on the J.J. Keller Entry-Level Driver Training manual.
Step 2: Get Your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)
- You’ll need a CLP before starting behind-the-wheel training. You can get it before or after completing the online theory portion.
Step 3: Train Behind the Wheel
- Work one-on-one with an instructor in Albert Lea or at your business location. You'll train on both range and road based on your experience and comfort level.
Step 4: Take Your CDL Road Test
- Once your training is complete, schedule your CDL road test with the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services. After passing, you’re ready to apply for your license.
