HSRT Testing
The HSRT (Health Science Reasoning Test) is a 50-minute, 35-question, multiple choice online exam that measures critical thinking skills. You'll read short passages and answer questions based only on what's in the reading — no healthcare background knowledge is needed. Most students who prepare with the resources below score within the required range.

Required scores for application

Scores, retakes, and policies
- HSRT scores expire one year after the test date.
- You may take the test up to two times before the program application deadline. A minimum wait of 14 calendar days is required between attempts.
- If you don't meet the minimum score, you may retake the exam once, as long as it's at least 14 days before the application deadline.
- Test results are provided immediately after the exam, and you'll have the option to email yourself a copy.
- The HSRT exam must be taken at Riverland. Scores from other testing locations will not be accepted for admission to Riverland Nursing or Radiography programs.
- The exam costs $45, paid at registration.
- If you need testing accommodations, contact the Accessibility Services office at least two weeks before your test date.
On test day
Make sure you're prepared before you arrive. The computer lab is only open to students who are registered and on the roster.
- Arrive 30 minutes early for check-in.
- Bring a valid photo ID. Verification is required before you can begin testing.
- Pre-registration is required. Make sure you've registered in advance so your name is on the roster.
