Emergency Medical Services

Riverland’s Emergency Medical Care classes provide enhanced entry-level job training for employment in a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service along with advanced skills for EMTs, paramedics, nurses and other health careers.

Training the way you need it

Riverland Community College specializes in EMS and First Aid/CPR training for any user.  We offer full service EMS Training for advanced students, such as Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics and Nurses, as well as individual or company training for private citizens who want to learn CPR or First Aid.

Course offerings

Certified by the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB), Riverland provides certification training for Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Responder Refresher, EMT and EMT Refreshers and Transition courses.  Riverland is also the Minnesota Chapter for International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) and utilizes certified instructors to provide training for basic and advanced ITLS and Pediatric Trauma Life Support (PTLS) initial and refresher courses.  Riverland provides certification courses for the American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid/CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Emergency, Assessment, Recognition (PEARS) taught by certified AHA instructors.

Emergency Medical Care

The Emergency Medical Care Certificate provides enhanced entry-level job training for employment in a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service. Included in the program are ride-along clinical experiences with local Ambulance Services.

EMER1200 Emergency Medical Technician

This course will provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Upon successful completion, participants are eligible for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician's exam.

SPAN1300 Spanish for Emergency Medical Services and Firefighters

This beginning-level course addresses the need for emergency medical personnel and firefighters to speak Spanish in order to perform their duties more effectively.
