Mathematics Transfer Pathway

Why study Mathematics at Riverland?

Riverland Community College offers small class sizes with personalized instruction. The cost is affordable at $185.67 per credit which is significantly less than the first two years at a 4- year university. Our courses are offered in a variety of formats. Our online courses have QM (Quality Matters) certification. There are work study opportunities for qualified students to work as mathematics tutors.

The Mathematics Transfer Pathway, AA offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated mathematics bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.

Other degrees offered at Riverland Community College have requirements of mathematics transfer pathway courses.  For example, accounting, chemistry and physics all require Math 1210 Calculus and Analytic Geometry.

Pam Ruble
Math Instructor

I have been teaching since 1998. I cannot say I always knew I would be a teacher but I can say I always knew I liked math. I remember as a preschooler that I was chosen to demonstrate our math skills at parent's night. It was while in college that I realized I enjoyed helping others learn math. I was a math tutor while an undergraduate and then I taught freshman level math classes as a graduate assistant. After that I was a high school math instructor for 13 years. I have been at Riverland since 2011 and thoroughly enjoy the opportunities I have here. I enjoy helping students reach their educational goals.
