Laboratory Sciences Description - Riverland

Laboratory Sciences

Why Study This?

The Laboratory Science degree provides opportunities for students who enjoy science and like working with their hands in a laboratory setting. Riverland’s two-year AA degree program in Laboratory Sciences gives students a strong laboratory science background to prepare them for two possible pathways.  One pathway aims at employment in research or industrial laboratory work in or outside the Austin area.  A second pathway is for students who want to transfer to the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) or another four year university to pursue a bachelor’s in health sciences in preparation for careers in medical care or research.

Why Study Here?

This program provides a strong science background while also providing the best possible transfer to University of Minnesota Rochester.  At UMR, students may continue to earn a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in research laboratory science or a variety of other research and clinical medicine pathways.  Riverland partners with the University of Minnesota Hormel Institute Research Laboratories, Hormel Research and Development and NuTek Biosciences to provide work experience and job opportunities for our students.
