This degree allows students to earn an A.A. degree that fulfills all the Minnesota State Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) requirements while at the same time preparing them to pursue a baccalaureate degree in engineering, physics, or other physical sciences such as chemistry and geosciences. A student who completes this program before transferring to a four-year school will have a solid foundation in the physics, chemistry, and mathematics needed for advanced study in their chosen field, and will meet most, if not all, of the general education requirements for a baccalaureate degree.

Riverland Community College is a member of the Minnesota State system, making it easy to transfer this degree to any other Minnesota State system school. This program is also designed to transfer easily to the University of Minnesota College of Science & Engineering. By completing this program, a student will be positioned to apply directly to nearly any major in the College of Science & Engineering, having completed the College’s prerequisite courses as well as the University’s liberal studies requirements.

Students are encouraged to check the specific requirements and recommendations for baccalaureate degrees in which they are interested. Students should also consult with Riverland program faculty and academic advisors when choosing Riverland courses to ensure they are making good choices. For example, General Chemistry II may be a program prerequisite, a program requirement, or technical elective, depending on the university and major.
