The purpose of this policy, in compliance with MnSCU Policy 3.3, is to improve student success in Riverland Community College courses and programs through student assessment and proper course placement that addresses reading comprehension, written English, and mathematics knowledge and skills.
Pursuant to MnSCU Policy 3.3, the assessment evaluation for new incoming students will not be used to make admission decisions into Riverland Community College. Some programs will require other types of assessment evaluation for admissions.
Riverland Community College may exempt some students from all or portions of the student assessment requirement based on presentation of college transcripts or equivalent evidence of adequate preparation or prior education, enrollment in non-credit continuing education or customized training or enrollment in a one or two course program of study.
The Assessment policy will apply to all students including online enrollees, PSEO, and concurrent enrollment students.
