3.19 Academic Program Redesign

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to identify a program or major redesign process for Riverland Community College.

Applicability

Riverland Community College shall gain approval for all program redesigns that affect the approved name, CIP code, addition or deletion of related program alternatives, award conferred, or program credit length when the change exceeds the maximum or fails to meet the minimum program credit lengths set by Board policy. The College shall provide prior notice to the Chancellor’s designee of all changes in programs’ credit length even when approval is not required for changes in program credit length when the change is within the limits established by Board policy.

Academic Program Redesign: Academic program redesign is a change to a current academic program characteristic, including:

  1. Name
  2. Academic award
  3. Federal Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code
  4. Credit length
  5. Location(s)
  6. Emphases, if any
  7. Articulation or collaborative agreements, if any, among colleges, universities, or other parties
  8. Status (active, suspended, closed)
