Road construction near Riverland's Austin Campus may increase travel times. Please allow extra time for travel and review alternate routes before visiting campus.

Riverland is working closely with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to help students, employees, and visitors navigate road construction near the Austin Campus.

Construction near Interstate 90 and Highway 218 (14th Street NW) may impact how you access campus. This is part of a larger infrastructure project in the Austin area and includes detours, lane shifts, and temporary traffic changes.

Construction Update and Traffic Delays

Construction is underway near the 8th Avenue intersection. Traffic delays are expected throughout September. The road closure scheduled for September 14 and 15 has ended, but drivers should continue to allow extra travel time.

Construction Timeline

  • Week of September 7: Traffic control was installed. Crews began removing damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
  • Week of September 14: Crews are repairing the sewer just north of the 8th Avenue intersection and replacing sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. Detours may be in place.
  • Week of September 21: Crews will complete minor electrical work on traffic signals and pedestrian ramps. Street milling and major crack repairs will also begin.
  • Week of September 28: Crews will complete asphalt patching and pave the street. Boulevard restoration and grass seeding will follow.

Construction schedules may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions. Please use caution when traveling through the area.
