Student Writing Contest

 

This contest is open to currently registered full and part-time Riverland students.

Cash awards of $100 will be given in each of the following categories:

Poetry
Fiction
Creative Nonfiction

Submissions will be accepted until midnight, April 14th.

Entries should be submitted by email in a 12 pt. font in a .doc, .txt, or .rtf document file to Jon.Olseth@riverland.edu

One “Honorable Mention” prize will also be awarded in each category. 

Winners will be published in the Spring 2023 Accent, the Riverland creative writing publication.  All submissions will be considered for publication in the Accent.

Students may enter multiple categories but can only win a cash award in one category.  Copyright will remain with the author of the work.  All work submitted must be the original work of the author and must not have been previously published.

Students may only submit one work of Fiction and Creative Non-fiction—maximum length is four double-spaced pages (1,000 words).   Students may submit only two poems--maximum length is two double-spaced pages.

Submissions in all categories will be judged by a qualified panel.  All decisions will be final.

Winners and “Honorable Mentions” will be notified by email on or before May 3rd.
