Graduates

Commencement Ceremony Information for Graduates:

Ceremony
Please remember your cap, gown, and tassel. We recommend that you take your gown out of the bag and hang it up at least one week prior to Commencement.

Ensure your guests have their tickets for Commencement. You were given 4 tickets for Commencement at the time you purchased your cap and gown at our book store or they were mailed to you if you ordered your cap and gown online.

If you are graduating with honors, please stop into the Austin Bookstore 1 hour before your ceremony to pick up your cord/stole. If you did not purchase your cord/stole, you must return it to the Bookstore immediately following your ceremony.

Graduates are to be seated in the Theatre 30 minutes prior to their ceremony and guests are to be seated in the Gymnasium.  Please share the Riverland Campus Parking Map with your guests. Please note that our Blue Parking is the best lot for our guests with impaired mobility. Riverland Campus Parking Map

As you line up in the theatre, you will be given a card with your name. You will hand this card to the Academic Affairs representative when you go on stage.  Marshals dressed in gray gowns will walk you from the Theatre to the seating area and direct you to your seats. Please take your seat immediately. You will be directed where to go on stage to begin reading of the names. Hand your card to the Academic Affairs representative, he/she will read your name from your card. You will walk across the stage to receive your diploma cover and shake hands with the President of Riverland Community college.

Your diploma will be mailed to you approximately eight weeks after the completion of your program.

*Please note: There will not be space available to keep your personal items with you during the ceremony. Please lock your coast, purse, or any other personal belongings in your car or leave them with one of your guests.
