Esthetician Description - Riverland

Esthetics is one of the fastest growing careers in the beauty industry. An esthetician is a highly trained, in-demand professional skincare specialist who identifies cosmetic issues with the skin and applies treatments to improve its condition. Esthetician services include specialized work with skin care products, analysis of skin, skin exfoliation, massage techniques and perform skin treatments like facials, body treatments, skin conditioning, blemish extractions, temporary hair removal, lash extensions, brow and lash tinting, lash lifting and makeup application.

As an esthetician you will help people improve the condition and appearance of their skin. You will have a flexible schedule so you can manage your family or personal life with your career. You will have many employment options to choose from such as salons, spas, or medical offices.

An esthetician license is required in Minnesota. The curriculum is regulated by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology. Students must complete 600 hours of esthetics training. The training will include theory training in infection control, Minnesota statutes and rules, product chemistry, anatomy, dermatology, facials, waxing, body treatments, makeup, and lash extensions.

Riverland Community College is a public, not-for-profit college which means your investment in tuition and kits will be less than most for private for-profit schools. Financial aid and scholarships are available.

Courses will be delivered in face to face, hybrid and online formats.

You will have the opportunity to practice your new skills in Riverland’s student salon and spa under the direct supervision of licensed  instructors.
