Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
June 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 118

Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Weber
Sponsored by Hy-Vee of Austin
Recommended for the entire family

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to life in this delightful musical parable.  Joseph, his father’s favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams.  When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.  Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country western and calypso to bubble-gum and rock ‘n roll, this Old Testament tale emerges as both timely and timeless.

Doubt, a Parable
July 7,8,9,10

By John Patrick Shandley
Sponsored by Coffee House on Main
Recommended for age 14 and up

Winner of the 2005 Pultizer Prize and Tony Award!  In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students.  A gripping story that is less about scandal and more about questions of moral certainty, Doubt is subblt and full of empathy for both sides. In just 90 fast-moving minutes, Shanley creates four blazingly individual people.

The Hormel Girls
July 20,21,22,23,24

Book & Lyrics by Laurie Flanagan
Music by Hiram Titus
Conceived by Perrin Post
Sponsored by Arizona Cleaning
Recommended for the entire family

Originally commissioned and produced by The History Theatre in St. Paul, this musical of The Hormel Girls is at once warm, engaging
and delightful.  The story follows the original Hormel Girls, a group of young women, many just home from the war, who form a big band while spouting the attributes of SPAM. The Hormel Girls Caravan was composed of 65 women who toured the country playing on national network radio.  This is no beauty pageant. About half of the women earned college degrees, making The Hormel Girls an early symbol of independent women across the country. Quentin Skinner of City Pages describes it as “a feel-good musical with ample laughs.”
