Internationally-Known Orchid Ensemble Here in March

Following tours of India and the American Southwest, the Orchid Ensemble will be at Riverland presenting a one-day residency on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. The Orchid Ensemble blends ancient musical instruments and traditions from China and beyond, creating a beautiful new sound that is both creative and distinct. The ensemble has embraced a variety of musical styles to its repertoire, ranging from the traditional and contemporary music of China , World Music, New Music, to Jazz and Creative Improvisation.
The three-person ensemble has appeared at the Kennedy Center, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, and many other prominent festivals.
At Riverland The Orchid Ensemble will be giving presentations including “The Silk Road and Beyond,” culminating the day with an evening concert of their unique musical stylings. Tickets for the evening concert will be available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. This residency is made possible with support from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, the Target Corporation, & RCC’s Global Education Committee.
