One of the most famous and popular stories in literary history, this version by Jean Anouilh transforms the setting from ancient Greece to modern times. The play’s parallels to modern times are exciting and provocative. When confronted with extraordinary circumstances, what choices would we make? Do we follow God’s laws or do we avoid punishment and follow man’s laws? What makes right and wrong? Right out of the evening news, ANTIGONE at once challenges and entertains.
