Fire Science Technology

ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE, 60 CREDITS

The Fire Science Technology A.A.S. degree program is designed to prepare students for entry-level technical or administrative careers in the fire science field by providing them with the necessary knowledge of the subject field, professional skills, and state-of-the-art techniques necessary for a successful career. Students will be prepared for state certification in Firefighter I & II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer 1 and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The hybrid Fire Science Technology program at Riverland Community College provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve your career goals. The program offers a flexible schedule needed for those currently working in the field or trying to become a firefighter.  Earn your degree online with only 10 days of in person fire training and 1 evening per week for EMT training.  Everything else is completed online!

The Fire Science Technology program can also be useful for careers in other public service areas or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.
