Congratulations on your choice to attend Riverland Community College! There are a number of scholarships available through the Riverland Community College Foundation that may help you achieve your educational goals. Scholarships are sponsored by friends of the College including staff, faculty, corporations, community organizations and individuals.
Scholarship Review Criteria
The scholarship review committee reviews the entire scholarship application packet including scholastic achievements, responses to application questions (including community service, education and career goals, etc.) and recommendation form.
Scholarship Selection Criteria for Riverland Community College Foundation Scholarships:
Scholastic Achievement
(Up to 25% of selection decision)Students receive points for various levels of academic achievement. Students receiving the award must have at minimum a cumulative "C" average (2.00 GPA).
Activities Participation and Service to Others
(Up to 20% of selection decision)Your active involvement in clubs, committees, sports, music and other activities, in addition to involvement in service to others is a consideration for selection.
Reason for Application and Future Goals
(Up to 20% of selection decision)Your reason(s) for application, your future goals, and what you hope to achieve with your education are reviewed in this section of the application.
Recommendation
(Up to 20% of selection decision)A positive recommendation from an instructor, or counselor or principal is very important in the selection process.
Appearance of the Application and Completion of Entire Application
(Up to 10% of selection decision)A professional looking and complete application can be a decisive factor for selection particularly among competitive applicants. Respondents are expected to respond to each question. Remember to spell-check your application.
Financial Need
(Up to 10% of selection decision) Your description of financial need will be reviewed. You do not need to apply for financial aid nor do you need to qualify for financial aid to be considered for a scholarship. However, the committee may review your FAFSA information, if you did apply for financial aid.
