John Ronald (Ron) Langrell III, Ph.D.BiographyExperience: Ron Langrell is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Riverland Community College. His postsecondary background includes senior-level assignments at College of Southern Idaho (Chief Student Affairs Officer) and Walla Walla Community College (Chief Workforce Officer). Leadership: Ron has served as a teacher and mentor to students in higher education leadership and community leadership programs in Oregon, Idaho, Florida, Washington, and Minnesota. He has served as President of both the Continuing Education Council and the Workforce Education Council, as well as State Chair of the Partnership for Rural Improvement, all in Washington State. He is currently President of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC). Service: Ron is a Board Trustee for the American Technical Education Association. His local focus includes board service in the Austin (Minnesota) area with the Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and Human Rights Commission. Ron currently serves on the Minnesota State College & University (MnSCU) Board of Trustee Outstanding Educator Awards Committee and has served on the MnSCU Policy Council and the MnSCU Academic & Student Affairs General Advisory Council. Family/Spouse: The Langrells are parents of John Ronald (IV), born June 7, 1997; Georgia Marie, born March 21, 2000; and Jacquelyn Cheryl, born December 28, 2004. Vicki Lynne Jackson-Langrell has worked on the White House Communications Agency staff at Camp David, as Captain in the U.S. Army, as contract administrator for a Fortune 500 company, and as a tenured community college faculty member. Growing up: Born to John and Cheryl Langrell, Ron (the oldest of three children) spent many of his first 14 years growing up on a Christmas tree farm and orchard in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Later in Southern Oregon, Ron worked the summer seasons in the woods of Douglas County while helping with the family commercial fishing business. First Career: Upon graduating from Roseburg High School, Ron was awarded academic and athletic scholarships, including a four-year grant-in-aid to the University of Idaho. Ron served as team captain on the Idaho Basketball Team and continues to be the only student in the university’s history to be named most inspirational athlete in three consecutive seasons. |
