Would you like a key role in a health care facility?
You will be ready to move into the job market as soon as you complete this short, intensive program. The Riverland Health Unit Coordinator certificate program is designed to prepare students for careers in health care facilities that require a wide range of office and communication skills. Job duties include transcribing doctor’s orders, scheduling appointments, diagnostic tests and treatments for clients/patients, managing client/patient charts, monitoring and ordering supplies, and utilizing a variety of communication devices.
Our classes emphasize the importance of effective communication skills both in person and by phone with clients/patients, visitors, health care team members and ancillary departments. Experienced instructors offer plenty of personal attention to each student. You will have the opportunity for on-the-job training during an internship course at both hospitals and long-term care facilities. This 144-hour on-site experience is valuable in helping students choose the type of work that is the best fit for their strengths and interests.
Employment Outlook
Our graduates are in demand and will find a variety of employment opportunities. Note that some employers offer tuition reimbursement programs.
