The Medical Receptionist certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment. You will learn how to perform duties such as handling phone calls in both emergency and non-emergency cases, scheduling appointments, keyboarding and other computer work, filing, mail and phone duties along with greeting patients and visitors.
This program introduces students to the medical environment with classes on medical terminology, medical office procedures and an introduction to medical transcription. This “Laptop Advantage” program provides hands-on training with computer equipment and software you are likely to use in the workplace. Medical receptionists play an important role on medical teams and have the satisfaction of helping patients and their families.
Employment Outlook
Graduates will find a variety of job options including work in private clinics, group practices, hospitals, nursing homes, therapy centers, research institutions, public health institutions and insurance companies. Note that some employers offer tuition reimbursement programs.
