Education Programs Concerning Security and Crime Prevention
All students receive campus security education and Information during the Advising and Counseling for Enrollment sessions (ACE). A crime prevention in-service program occurs once per year for staff and faculty members. All employees receive campus security policies and procedures in their employee handbook. All new employees are required to attend an employee orientation program where campus safety is discussed and explained as well as the reporting process.
The Campus Safety Committee, Human Resources, Counseling Center has available, at no cost, brochures, flyers, pamphlets, movies, videos, and posters concerning various safety and security issues. The Riverland Community College Counseling Center provides staff to aid students in coping with alcohol and drug abuse. In addition, crime safety training is provides via the Student Handbook and is targeted to housing students via the Student Housing Handbook.
The College also provides education for the prevention of sex offenses during student and staff orientations, through the availability of counselors on staff, resources like pamphlets, brochures and videos available for use, and yearly programs during staff and faculty in-service training days. In addition, Student Activity programming provide sessions on crime prevention.
