Immunization
Minnesota Law (M.S.135A.14) requires that all students born after 1956, enrolling in a postsecondary institution in Minnesota, be immunized against rubella (red) and rubella,
(German) measles and mumps; and diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and tetanus (DPT). Students enrolled for only one course per semester are exempt. An immunization form is mailed to all students who fall within this policy and completion will be required within 45 days of the start of the first day of the next term.
Exemption for the following reasons may be substituted for proof of immunization:
1. Proof of immunization requirements is not required for Minnesota high school
students who have a 1997 or subsequent year graduation date.
2. Medical exemption: the student does not have one or more of the required
immunizations because he/she has a medical problem that precludes the
vaccine(s); because of a history of that disease; or because of laboratory evidence
of immunity against that disease.
3. Conscientious exemption: the student has certified by notarization that immunization
is contrary to her/his conscientiously held beliefs. |
