Services for you

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

ILL is a service for Riverland students, faculty, and staff that allows our patrons to request books and other materials from other libraries in Minnesota. You must have an active student ID to complete this process.

The process for interlibrary loan of a book:
* search the MnPALS catalog
* log into 'your borrowing record' -- link at top of page
* do your search (help)
* in the full record view click on 'ILL request'
* choose your pickup location (special message for Owatonna students)
* read and agree to copyright statement
* submit the form
* you will be notified of arrival through your NetMail (school email)

You can submit a request using a blank form for Books or use MNLINK

######################################################################################The Interlibrary loan requests for journal/magazine/newspaper articles can be made using MNLINK:

* from the library webpage click on More Books
* click on MNLINK
* off campus? enter your library barcode number (20207..) and password (your last name)
* enter your search term in the search term box
* use the drop box labeled 'current profile' to select the group of databases to be searched
* clicking on advance search for more search options
* search results will be listed
* click on the 'details' link for information about each item
* some articles are in full text, click the HTTP link in upper right of each box, to get text
* click on the 'get it' button to request a loan
* click on 'request via ILL'
* enter need by date - this is important
* click on submit
* verification number will appear

* if searching is slow or page is timing out, try clearing your cookies and deleting temporary files in your browser

Tracking Your Interlibrary Loans
* Use your borrowing record in MNPALS to track status of loans

Delivery

*Austin and Albert Lea owned items can be sent to either campus for pickup
*Patrons should allow one-week for books and other items to be delivered to Riverland.
*Books and other items can be picked up and returned at the library circulation desk.
*Paper copies of journal articles do not have to be returned.
*Patrons can choose e-delivery of journal articles.

*Owatonna students can request that books and other items be sent to the Owatonna student services desk for pickup. Items can also be returned there.

*Distance patrons can request that books requested via interlibrary loans be mailed to their home address. Mailing will add an additional two days to the wait time for the loan materials. Patrons will be responsible for the cost of returning the materials to the library.

*Patrons will be notified when an interlibrary loans arrives via their NetMail email address.

ILL Renewals
Items may be renewed however that decision is made by the lending library.

Patrons can request renewals:
*'your borrowing record'
*clicking on 'ILL active requests.'
*click on highlighted number
*there is a 'renew' link at bottom of page
*if renewal request is accepted the due date will change in 2-3 days

Patrons may also contact the library by phone or library email for renewal.  Please request a renewal before the due date.
