Distance Student Information
Who To Contact With Questions
Distance students can contact the librarians with
questions concerning any policy in the library. Below are just a few of
the more common information requests of students.

Student ID/Library Cards Student picture ID cards is your library
card. Students are required to have this card to check out library
materials.This includes reserve materials. These cards can be obtained free of
charge from the student services centers in all three campus locations.
If you are a Riverland Community College distance student
and never get to any of the three campuses, please send an email message to the
Library or call either the Austin
Library at 507-433-0533 or the Albert Lea Library at 507-379-3368. Be sure to
give us your full name and student identification number and we will mail a card
to your home address.
Access to Riverland Books This is our online catalog.
Use Riverland Books to locate books, videos, CDs, DVDs, electronic
books, selected Internet resources, and numerous other kinds of information in
the Riverland Libraries. These materials can be requested from our libraries by
phone or email. Riverland has a
number of electronic books that are also available for use by our
students. These can be searched by using the online
catalog.
Materials From
Other Minnesota Libraries Online catalogs from other libraries can also be searched from the
Riverland library webpage. There is a short summary of each catalog at
this link.
Library Help Page This
webpage is useful for distance and on campus students. Information on this
page includes contact name, phone numbers, help for
using the MnPALS, and APA and MLA sample style
sheets.
Access to Online
Databases The Riverland online
database can be accessed from remote locations using our proxy server. More
information can be found about the proxy server on the library help webpage.
When on campus, the online databases are available on any
campus at any computer station.
Interlibrary Loan ILL is a service for Riverland students, faculty, and staff that
allows our patrons to request books and other materials from other libraries in
Minnesota More information about interlibrary loan can be found on our
interlibrary loan page.
Distance patrons can request that books requested via interlibrary loans be
mailed to their home address. Mailing will add an additional two days to
the wait time for the loan materials. Patrons will be responsible for the
cost of returning the materials to the library.
