The purpose of the Linker is to determine whether a magazine, journal or newspaper is available in full text form in one of the Riverland Community College Library full text databases or on the web.   If you are having trouble accessing through Linker, see troubleshooting at bottom of page.

Example.  A search is started from the magazine/journal search on the first page of the library website.  In the results list, some articles will have a full text link but for some, no full text will be available.  When there is no full text available, there should be a link that reads "Where can I get this?"  If the full text is available in another of Riverland's databases, it will link out to that full text.

• This can be done in two ways:
  *use 'where can I get this?' the link on an article found in a database search
  *go directly to linker and use the title browse
  *use the subject browse feature in linker

To use linker from an article indexed in a database:
     *do a database search
     *on the results screen 
     *click on 'where can I get this?'

• look carefully at the screens for the 'where can I get this?' link -- it appears in different places depending upon the database used

Search subject catagories:
     *accessing the linker software 
    *click on 'browse by journal subject'
     *results list journals available in full text within the category

Trouble Shooting:
There has been an ongoing issue with off campus access to PalsConnect Linker, following are some troubleshooting suggestions:

• try a different browser, Firefox works better in some cases than Internet Explorer
• authenticate into a journal database first by using our A-Z list
• clear history, cache and cookies
