Bibliographic Instruction
Expectations that students understand how and when to use library resources is vastly overrated by instructors. Studies show that while students are often computer literate, they are not information literate.
An article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Not Enough Time in the Library offers an explanation of students computer skills and an outline of suggested steps to help students become better information consumers.
The Riverland librarian would like to work with the classroom instructor to design library instruction relevant to the class, it can take the form of a general library overview, a subject specific assignment or instruction on using a specific database.
