Online Databases

CQ Researcher: Explores a single issue in the news in depth each week. Topics, both national and international, range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education, science and technology.

LexisNexis Academic: A search can be done by individual collections of full text information for: people, country profiles, news and federal and state codes (laws). Be sure to look at the Lexis/Nexis help screen, it offers many tips on formulating a search. Search tutorials are on the left.

Culturegrams: World, U.S. States and Kids edition of this online resource that includes information about cultures, statistics, maps, flags, recipes and other information about over 200 countries of the world

Newspapers: National, international and local newspapers are included.  Many full text articles from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal are available. Search help.

Historical Minneapolis Tribune 1867-1922: Combination index and PDF article images of the Minneapolis Tribune articles from 1867-1922.

Archive Grid: Searchable index of descriptions of archival collections that can be found in historical societies, churches, libraries and musuems.

Encyclopedia Britannica:  The academic edition search results have links to the Ebsco database citations.

Salem History Collection: Collection includes modern history of fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties.

Student Reference Center Gold: Database includes reference books, full text magazines and newspapers, documents and multimedia. Search help.

Business Searching (BSI): This index is an excellent source for company profiles, including datamonitor reports, industry profiles, market research reports and country reports. Search help.

Worldcat (Find It in a Library): This catalog is helpful for creating citations and as a source for materials owned by libraries worldwide.

Netlibrary: This site will go directly to electronic books owned by Riverland.
