This is a complete list of the databases, electronic catalogs and ebooks, available for use by Riverland Library patrons.

Electronic Catalogs: -- Used to find books, videos, DVDs, ebooks, course reserves and information about current print subscriptions to journals and magazines in our libraries.  There are a few reference books available too.

Riverland Catalog: Also known as MNPals, this is the newest version of our catalog used for finding books, ebooks, course reserves and nonprint materials in the Riverland libraries.

MnPALS Catalog: Online card catalog for over 100 academic and special libraries in Minnesota.  Interlibrary loan requests can be made with a student ID.

MnLINK: The online catalog links public, academic, school and government libraries all over Minnesota.  Access to interlibrary loan services requires a library card number and password.  Help

Find It In A Library (Worldcat):  Patrons can search for books, film, music and more in libraries worldwide. The 'citation view' helps users cite the work in five different styles, including APA and MLA.

Worldcat: Worldcat is an online catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide.

SELCO Online Catalog: From the SELCO webpage you can search for books and materials in the Austin and Albert Lea public libraries as well as other public libraries in the SELCO system.  Using your public library card you can also search ELM (Electronic Library Collection).

EBooks

Encyclopedia Britannica:  The academic edition search results have links to the Ebsco database citations. Search help.

Credo Reference
Wide variety of reference books including bilingual dictionaries, measurement conversions, biographies, quotations and a crossword solver.  Search help.

Gale Reference Library: Books in the library are available electronically.  These titles can also be searched in the library online catalog. More information.

Google BooksGoogle has some full text content.  Click on the "Find in a library" link to check Riverland's collection for a paper copy.

Marshall Cavendish Collection: Collection includes American history, popular authors, earth & space science, economics & personal finance and sex & society.

NetLibrary: This site will go directly to electronic books owned by RiverlandMore information.

Salem History Collection: Collection includes modern history of fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties.

Salem Health Collection:  Collection includes only Psychology & Mental Health at this time.

Salem Literature Collection:  Collection includes Critical Survey of Poetry and Critical Survey of Long Fiction.

Full Text Databases:  Databases offer access to search and retrieval of journal/magazine, newspaper articles, sections of reference books and a wide variety of other types of material.  Some of the content is in full-text.

Archive Grid: Searchable index of descriptions of archival collections that can be found in historical societies, churches, libraries and museums.

ArtStor: A digital library of approximately 750,000 images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. Search help.

CAMIO: An image database of works or art from national and international museums.

Consumer Health Complete: Combination of full text evidence based reports, books, alternative treatment sources, videos and diagrams. Search help.

CQ Researcher: Explores a single issue in the news in depth each week. Topics, both national and international, range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education, science and technology.

Criminal Justice: Database of full text journals in the field of criminal justice and related issues.

Culturegrams: World, U.S. States and Kids edition of this online resource that includes information about cultures, statistics, maps, flags, recipes and other information about over 200 countries of the world.

Current Issues in Health: Database of full text articles covering a variety of current health related issues. Complement to CQ Research and Points of View.

EBSCO Academic Resources: Combines Academic Search Premier, Masterfile, MAS Ultra and Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedia into a single search. Search help.

EBSCO Business Resources: Combines Business Source Premier, Regional Business News and Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedia into a single search.  Search help.

EBSCO Health Resources: Combination of Ebsco's Nursing/Academic edition, AltHealth Watch and HealthSource Consumer edition. Databases contain magazine, journals and books. Search help.

EBSCO Science Reference Center: Contains science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, and other sources covering the areas of biology, chemistry, environmental and life sciences. Search help.

ERIC: Database is designed for professional educators.

Gale Educator's Reference Center Complete: Journals and reports for professional educators. Compliments ERIC by offering full text of many of the journals found in the ERIC database.

Gale Expanded Academic ASAP: 20 years of backfile coverage on a wide-range of topics including social sciences, humanities, education, science and technology. Some full text. 

Gale Nursing Resource Center: Database is designed for nursing students, it brings together disease and drug overviews, care plans, relevant journal results and animated anatomy and physiology diagrams. Search results are returned in tabs that correspond to steps in the nursing process. Search help.

Gale Professional Collection: Database of  journals covering all types of professions.

Gale Student Resources in Context: Database includes reference books, full text magazines and newspapers, documents and multimedia. Search help.

Health Reference: Good source for images it also contains full-text information about conditions and diseases, mental health, health and wellness, and body systems and medical tests.

Historical Minneapolis Tribune 1867-1922: Combination index and PDF article images of the Minneapolis Tribune articles from 1867-1922.

LexisNexis Academic: A collection of full text news, business, legal and medical research. Be sure to look at the Lexis/Nexis help screen, it offers many tips on formulating a search. Other types of searches that can be done include: people, country profiles, news and federal and state codes (laws). Search tutorials are on the left.

Library Information Science & Technology Abstracts: An index to books and journals designed for librarians.  Coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more.

Newspapers: National, international and local newspapers are included on this database. Many full text articles from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal are available. Search help.

OCLC Firstsearch: Thirty-six subject databases covering a wide variety of subject areas.  Some full text is available but please contact the library with requests for additional materials.  

Points of View: Similar to CQ Researcher, explores single issues in the news in depth each week. Topics, both national and international, range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education, science and technology. Search help.

Pop Culture: This database focuses on American and worldwide popular culture, past and present.  To print an article use the print link located on the right hand side of the page.

Proquest Nursing & Allied Health Journals: Contains healthcare information, much in full text, covering nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, consumer health, and more.
