Kids College

Welcome to Riverland Kid's College

Riverland Community College doesn't just cater to the educational needs of adults. This summer Riverland is offering Kids’ College, a summer enrichment program for children. The program is designed for kids entering 4th, 5th and 6th grades in the fall of 2015. They must be comfortable in a fast-paced learning environment. Classes will stimulate and encourage creativity, develop thinking and problem-solving skills and bring together kids who love to learn.

When and Where

Riverland Kids' College will be offered June 22-26 in Austin at Riverland Community College – East Building, 1900 8th Avenue NW. The program starts at 8:30 a.m. each day with a large group gathering. Students will take two classes; the first meets 8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m., the second from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

The cost is $85 per child for the week. This includes two classes, supplies (unless otherwise noted), refreshments, T-shirt and certificate.

In most cases, a minimum of 10 students must enroll before a course can be offered. Early registrants are more likely to be assigned to the courses they select, but due to some class cancellations and popularity of classes, first choices cannot always be honored. Students will be notified of their class assignments by mail the week of June 15.

Campus and Classroom Behavior

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that facilitates instruction and the learning process. Disruptive students will be dismissed from the program without a refund.

You may register by mail or in person weekdays at Riverland Community College - 1900 8th Ave NW, Austin; Austin West Building, Room A147 (Training and Development Suite). Fees must accompany all registrations. Make checks payable Riverland Community College. Register early!

Volunteer Leaders

Volunteer leaders are welcome to help facilitate Riverland Kids' College. They will escort children to classes, supervise during breaks, serve refreshments, and assist instructors during class time as needed. Selection will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please consider volunteering even if it is only for part of the week; it may be possible to coordinate with others. Adult volunteers may deduct $5 from one student’s tuition for each day of volunteering, with the refund being issued at the end of the event week.
