2009 Summer Information
Apply for Financial Aid
New and Current Students
If you have not applied for financial aid for the 2008-2009 academic year and wish to receive financial aid for summer 2009, you must apply by completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov no later than June 16, 2009.
Transfer Students
If you completed your 2008-2009 financial aid at another institution and will now be attending Riverland Community College, you must transfer your information from the Department of Education to Riverland Community College. To start this process, make sure you have your Federal PIN number. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov, click on Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA. You will need to add school code 002335. This needs to be done no later than June 16, 2008.
** If you are only taking classes at Riverland and not pursuing a degree, you should complete a consortium agreement for summer semester. You obtain the consortium agreement from the school you are receiving your degree from. The school you are receiving your degree at will then pay you financial aid as if you were taking the Riverland courses at that school.
Aid Eligibility
To be eligible for grants and/or loans for summer 2009, you must have:
- Enrolled in at least one summer session
- Students that are admitted as a "Special Admit" status will not qualify for financial aid.
- A completed 2008-2009 financial aid file (including all supporting documents)
- Remaining grant and/or loan eligibility for the 2008-2009 school year. Your Financial Aid Student Service Representative will be able to make an estimate of what aid eligibility will be available to you. However, you will receive an official award letter identifying the exact amounts of grants and loans that you qualify for this summer.
Changing Your Schedule
If you add a course after June 12, 2009 your Pell Grant WILL NOT be adjusted for the increase in credits. If you drop any courses after June 12, 2009, you may be required to repay part or all of your summer aid. YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE MUST BE FIRM AND YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES AFTER JUNE 12th OR YOU RISK AID REDUCTIONS. If you decide not to attend, you must officially drop your courses. Students not officially dropped from their courses will be charged for those credits.
Tuition Degerments
For the summer session, the Business Office will only defer your tuition and fees if you have a financial aid application on file. Students not meeting the above criteria MUST pay their full tuition and fees by May 20th (if your classes start June 8th) or June 30th (if your classes start July 14th ). If you have not applied for financial aid or completed a tuition payment plan your classes will be dropped.
