Riverland Conversion From GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange/Outlook A significant conversion took place Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 4 p.m. To learn more about the reasons for the conversion see Riverland Conversion Spring/Summer 2010. Do not continue to use GroupWise for your e-mail system. Although it may appear that GroupWise is still working, it is not fully functioning. NOTE: If you do not see your calendar items or e-mail messages from 7/1/2009 to now, contact Shane Wrede or Dan Harber. Check Junk E-Mail Folder for legitimate e-mail – legitimate e-mail messages from students and others may be in your Junk E-Mail folder. Outlook has its own rules for determining what goes in there, but you can help "teach" it to allow e-mail from that sender/domain. Review the Jund E-Mail folder to see if there are items you should review. Sue this link to help you process them. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP012300381033.aspx?pid=CH100777011033 Conversion Timeline: GroupWise will continue to function as normal and be the primary e-mail system until 4:00 p.m Thursday, 5/13/2010. After that, users should no longer use GroupWise. No external e-mail will go in and out of it.
User Checklist: 1 - Email to addresses @river.cc.mn.us will no longer work - If you still have listserv memberships with your old address on them, please un-subscribe and re-subscribe to them with your @riverland.edu address. 2 - Document Proxy Access - Our email migration process will move items like email, addresses, appointments, etc. However, one of the main areas that WON'T be migrated is the Proxy area. If you've given anyone proxy access to your email/calendar, please use the link to the document to write down your existing Proxy access, save it, and then after we've converted to Microsoft Outlook, you can enter that information into Outlook so those users will be able to access what they need to. "Recording Proxy in Groupwise to Prepare for Outlook" 3 - Password Migration - Everyone must go to the address listed in the document, and enter your existing username and password (along with the other steps outlined in this document "Password Synchronization for Staff_Fac". This step is critical for you to be able to login to the new system at a future date with the same username/password that you currently use to access your email and Riverland computers.
