A variety of personnel changes have taken place in the Riverland Community College communications department.
James Douglass named director of communications/
James Douglass has been named director of communications for Riverland Community College. The director of communications is responsible for providing leadership and direction for annual planning, budget, advertising, publications and public relations. The director also provides strategic and operational direction for the college Web site and manages the continued growth of the Internet and Intranet Web sites.
Douglass has a bachelor of arts degree from St. Cloud State University in theatre arts with a mass communications, public relations emphasis. Formerly, Douglass worked as the marketing director of the Riverland communications department and has been an adjunct faculty member at Riverland since 1999. From 1992 to 2001, Douglass worked as project marketing coordinator at the Rochester Post Bulletin.
He replaces Amy Wangen who resigned from the position and currently works part time in the communications department as a public relations specialist.
Sarah Dene Brakke hired as graphic arts specialist
Sarah Dene Brakke has been hired as a graphic arts specialist for the Riverland communications department. This position is responsible for providing graphic services to produce high-quality, press-ready copy helps plan and implement annual advertising and promotional plans.
Brakke has been working in this position, on a temporary basis, since September 2005. She is, now, a permanent member of the department.
Brakke has a bachelor of science degree in graphic design from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and is also a freelance graphic designer.
The Riverland communications department is completed by Sandra Roe who continues to serve as the Web developer.
