Riverland Community College Biology Faculty Pamela Tranby is nearing completion of 2005-2006 ASM Scholars-in-Residence Program, a year-long program for advancing scholarly teaching in microbiology. The program seeks to develop faculties’ ability to conduct evidence-based research in microbiology learning. Tranby was one of 16 applicants selected, nationwide, to participate.
Tranby is developing a teaching (outcomes assessment) project in which she is researching ways to more effectively teach and assist under-prepared learners in the nursing program. This month, she will present her early results at the National ASM Undergraduate Conference in Orlando, Florida. Tranby’s participation in the program was partially funded by the Riverland Faculty Development Committee and the Riverland Community College Foundation.
Tranby was a faculty member at Riverland Community College from 1986 through 1998. From 1998 through 2001 she served as vice president of academic affairs. She returned to her faculty position in 2002. She is currently a doctoral student at Colorado State University. Tranby holds a master of science degree, microbiology major, biochemistry minor from South Dakota State University. She also earned a bachelor of science degree, public health administration major and a bachelor of science degree, microbiology major, chemistry minor from South Dakota State University. |
