The National Council of Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) awarded Riverland Community College’s Communications department two 2006 Medallion Awards at the District 5 conference held in Omaha, Nebraska Sept 24 – 26.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medallions are awarded to the top three entries in each category for projects completed between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006.
The communications department received a Gold Award in the Best Public Relations Campaign–Recruitment category. The campaign was a joint effort of the entire communications team including James Douglass; director of communications, Sarah Brakke, graphic arts specialist; Sandra Roe, Web developer, Amy Wangen, public relations specialist. Danielle Heiny, director of admissions and Deb Vang, assistant director of admissions were also key contributors to the success of the campaign.
The department also received a Bronze Award in the Best Web site category for the new design of www.riverland.edu, introduced in the summer of 2005. Riverland’s Web Communications Committee contributed to the superlative efforts of Web Developer Sandra Roe in the redesign project.
NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community, technical and junior colleges. District 5, consists of community, technical, and junior colleges in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Manitoba. |
