Riverland Community College President Dr. Terrence Leas has been chosen as the Florida State University College of Education’s 2008 Distinguished Alumnus in the Postsecondary Systems – Community College Setting category. Leas was selected from a pool of more than 40 nominations representing a diverse group of professional educators. The committee felt that his professional success and leadership embodies the mission and goals of the College of Education. He has been invited to attend the Florida State University Homecoming Scholarship/Awards Breakfast on November 15 at Florida State University Schools.
Leas holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Florida State University, a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from Valdosta State College in Georgia, and a bachelor's degree in social science education from Florida State University. He has been president at Riverland Community College since July 2003.
Leas is on the board of, or is a member of various community organizations in Albert Lea, Austin and Owatonna; serves on a variety of committees within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system; is a member of the governor’s Workforce Development Council. |
