MINNEAPOLIS — The Riverland men's soccer team is off to a great start on the season with a 3-0 record. After winning a pair of games last week against Hibbing, the Riverland Blue Devils went to Minneapolis on Tuesday. Riverland came away with a 2-1 win over North Central University on the road. It was a very evenly matched game and NCU held a 1-0 lead after the first half. The score came from a long shot. on a ball that went through Riverland's goal keeper, Esteban Sebastian hands, because of wet field conditions. "This was the only mistake Sebastian made during the game," Riverland coach Soner Dogan said. "Other than this mistake, Sebastian was very good in the goal and he made eight saves. At the half, I told my guys to attach from the middle of the field a little more, because we used our wings at the top in the first half and it was not successful. I want midfield players to run more and help each other more." In the 55th minute, Rafael Bellon scored a goal from 25 yards out. Then, Riverland kept putting on pressure and in the 80th minute, it resulted with penalty kick.
