What is expected of Summer College Prep Academy Students?

  • Between April 14 and April 25, every nominee must complete a placement test. Tests will be offered at Austin and Albert Lea high schools or at the Austin, Albert Lea or Owatonna campuses of Riverland. Students cannot fail the test. It is used to determine the student's skills for success in the program. Also, we want to make sure the student is not too advanced for the program.
  • Students must attend every day Monday through Thursday each week.
  • Students are expected to be in class every day promptly by 9 a.m.
  • Students will generally be done for the day by 4 p.m.
  • Car
  • Students who choose to take a more advanced Math class may have class until 5 p.m. three days a week.
  • Students will have study time during the day, but many will have up to 2 hours of additional homework in the evenings.
  • Students may have weekend homework, as well.
  • Riverland will provide one free lunch each week. Students should plan to have money for lunch during the remaining three days.
  • Students will need notebooks, folders, pens and pencils. These items can be provided by the college upon request.
  • Riverland is an open campus. That means that students will be allowed to leave campus during breaks and lunch.
