Hall of Fame2003 Inductee Fred BuddeMen's Tennis, (1975-77) Fred Budde, a 1975 Austin Pacelli High School graduate, had an outstanding high school tennis career and won the state high school doubles; title with Kelly Tritz. He continued his success at Austin Community College from 1975-77 where he was state runner-up in singles at #1, both his freshman and sophomore years in the state junior college championships. His doubles' partner both seasons was Kelly Tritz. In his freshman year, Budde finished second in the state in doubles' competition and was All-State and All- Region XIII champion in 1977 where he advanced to the NJCAA national tennis tournament. He went on to Iowa State University where he played #2 singles and #1 doubles. Budde is still ranked amongst the best amateurs in tennis in the Northern Section of the United States Tennis Association (MN, SD, ND, WI). He is ranked #1 in the 45 and over singles, 45 and over doubles, 35 and over doubles, and #1 in the open doubles. Fred is married to Linda and they have one daughter, Anna. He is a chemical engineer and owns his own company called Safe Encasement. |
