Riverland third baseman Thenedra Corey was selected MCAC Southern Division player of the week recently.
The freshman hit .631 (12-for-19) with two triples, while going eight-for-eight on steals last week for the Blue Devils (15-14 overall).
Corey is the third Blue Devil to receive player of the week this season, as Carmen Smith (21 RBIs) and Laura Meyer (.545 batting average) won it earlier.
The Blue Devils are the second best hitting team in NJCAA as they prepare for the state tournament. They will play Northland Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Cloud.
“We just have to make sure we play solid defense,” RCC head coach Dave Lillemon said.
This is RCC’s third straight trip to the MCAC state tournament.
