The Riverland softball team closed out its regular season by dropping two home games to Rochester by scores of 9-2 and 12-3 Tuesday in Austin.
The Blue Devils (15-14 overall, 9-11 MCAC South) fell behind 7-0 in the first two innings due to four early errors in the first game and Rochester (28-3 overall, 18-2 MCAC South) beat RCC in five innings in the nightcap.
“You have to play perfect defense and hit well to keep up with Rochester and they pounced on our mistakes,” RCC head coach Dave Lillemon said.
Laura Meyer had a hit in both games, extending her streak to 26 straight games with a hit.
The Blue Devils will open state tournament play Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Cloud against a tournament opponent to be determined.
