Accolades continue to come in for members of the Riverland Blue Devils baseball team as they made a clean sweep of conference honors for the past week.
For their efforts on the diamond last week, the Blue Devils had the top player and pitcher in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, South Division.
Kyle Starkey was chosen as the MCAC South player-of-the-week, while Brian Voigt was named as the MCAC South pitcher-of-the-week.
"The guys have put a lot of work in to improve their game and it's nice to see them get honored by the league," Riverland coach Scott Koenigs said. "Kyle and Brian have been a big part of our success so far this season. The team is playing well and we received the No. 11 ranking in the country for NJCAA Division III schools."
Starkey, a third baseman and outfielder, posted a .455 batting average in six games last week. He had seven singles, two doubles, and a total of seven RBIs in leading the Blue Devils to four wins last week.
Voigt threw a no-hitter in the second game of a sweep by Riverland over Hibbing Community College. Voigt is now 2-0 on the season and hasn't allowed an earned run in his two starts. He has nine strikeouts on the season.
Starkey currently leads the MCAC South with a .456 batting average for the season. He has 31 hits in 68 at-bats.
Riverland (20-7) plays a home doubleheader against Iowa Lakes Community College on Friday. The Blue Devils then have home-and-away divisional doubleheaders against Minnesota West scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
