The Riverland baseball team beat two Ontario teams in Cocoa, Florida Tuesday.
The Blue Devils (6-1 overall) beat the Ontario Blue Jays 7-1 and won 14-1 against the Ontario Prospects.
In the win against the Blue Jays, Riverland took advantage of seven walks and one hit batsmen from the Ontario pitching staff.
We took advantage of a little bit of a wild pitcher, RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said.
Southland graduate Brian Voigt had a big two-run triple in the fifth inning to break open a 4-1 game.
In the win against the Prospects, Ryan Palmer of Rapid City, SD, pitched a gem striking out nine while not allowing a hit or a walk in the last five innings.
It was just an awesome pitching performance, Koenigs said.
While Palmer dominated, the Riverland bats woke up as the Blue Devils had nine extra base hits.
Four of those wouldve been homers but the field had some crazy dimensions, Koenigs said. We absolutely came out ripping the ball and it was fun to watch.
Shawn Pape of Winona had two triples and three RBIs in the win.
