Sideshow

The James Wegner Gallery is pleased to present "Sideshow", an exhibition of mixed media paintings by Elisabeth Preble and mixed media sculptures by Jerilyn Klemme.

Preble's paintings involve themselves with her love of patterns, especially those incorporating circles, in rich layered works that build in complexity through her responsive creative process, and may suggest an underlying narrative. Klemme calls her sewn soft- sculpture creations "monsters". Though far more appealing than the name suggests, their intentionally awkward qualities hint at issues of personal body image.

Together, the works play off one another in a fascinating way. The affect is both whimsical and playful, as well as thought provoking.

The show is open today through November 2, 9am- 5pm.

The artists will be speaking on campus in a public reception on November 2 at 9:30.
