Doug Parr is a Business Development Specialist on the Training and Development Team. He is available to assist businesses throughout the Riverland service area with methods to identify training needs that bring the highest return on investment. His broad background in quality management, particularly related to training and performance, helps him provide clients with sound approaches to skill and knowledge management that provide the highest organizational impact.

Doug obtained a Master's degree in Industrial Education - Training and Development, after spending 15 years as a high school English teacher. More recently, Doug helped to start the successful Plexus Corporation in St. Paul. The six years he spent developing that business into a global organization with operations in 15 countries provided him with an appreciation and understanding of the practical needs of business customers of community colleges.

Doug has authored numerous papers and articles that have been published in the field of quality management. Recently he contributed to the Fourth Edition of the ISO 9000 Handbook in a chapter related to QS-9000. The ISO 9000 Handbook is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and authoritative sources for information about International Standards. Doug is also contributing to the college's internal quality initiative, which includes Riverland's participation in a select group of Higher Education institutions that are developing and using a continuous improvement model in place of the traditional accreditation process.
