Development Director's Corner
The Riverland Community College Foundation recently unveiled a new grant program for Professional Development and Program Enhancement. Grant dollars are dedicated to enhancing student learning and/or improving the College's abilities to serve the Riverland community. Grant projects must relate to the College's mission and directly affect students and/or community members served by the College.
During the first year of the program, the Foundation awarded $4000 in grants.
Program Enhancement Awards
- Bill Dowden, Instructional Support Manager, Web Cam for College's Web Page
- Jim Schneider, Media Technician, technology upgrades for Albert Lea Campus Lecture Hall
- Dave Lillemon, Men's Athletic Director and Physical Education Instructor, Baby Anne and Junior Anne CPR mannequins
- Sue Howard, Physical Therapist Assistant Director, "FALLS" awareness service learning project
- Jerry Girton, Theatre Director and Faculty Member, Guthrie Touring Show performance of Molly Sweeney
Professional Development Awards
- John Penley, Construction Electrician Instructor, attendance at National Fire Code Protection Association Conference
- Maryann Bush, Counselor and Koryn Smith, Director of Placement and Graduation Services, adjunct faculty handbook development
- Sue Howard, PTA Director, attendance at SEED Diversity Awareness and Education project
This new Riverland Foundation program is an exciting opportunity for staff and faculty to enhance Riverland's learning environment. A special thank you to all of the businesses, community members, alumni, faculty and staff who donated to these funds during our annual campaign.
