Riverland Generations will sponsor the presentation "Minnesota Tourism: Hot Spots and New Experiences" on Thursday, April 23 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The program discusses topics including Minnesota's most visited destinations, the economic impact tourism has on Minnesota business and what it means to the out-state population.

Presenter David Vogel currently serves as the Southern Regional Manager for Explore Minnesota Tourism. Vogel previously served as the Executive Director of Fairmont, Minnesota Convention and Visitors Bureau. In his current position with Explore Minnesota Tourism, he interacts with tourism organizations and communities to help them develop their goals and objectives relating to marketing Minnesota potential tourists and helps them access various Explore Minnesota Tourism programs.
Programming is in collaboration with KSMQ public television. KSMQ will televise "Almanac: Hands on History: Exploring Red Wing/Stillwater" on Monday, April 6 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 12 p.m. A tour of Red Wing will give insight into the stories behind Red Wing pottery, ski jumping, Barn Bluff, and the nearby Prairie Island Reservation as this historic
Mississippi river town is explored. A tour down Stillwater's historic main street will include glimpses of lumbering history, the old Territorial Prison and the brewery caves. Plus, learn about the story of Bud Fowler, America's first pro black to play pro baseball.
Riverland Generations is a personal education experience designed for the mature learner to inspire learning for living. Generations programming is tailored to the interests of participants ages 55 and over.
Riverland Community College, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, is a regional comprehensive community college inspiring learning for living through a personalized educational environment. Approximately 4,000 students are served, annually, through a wide range of credit-based educational opportunities. An additional 5,600 students are annually served in non-credit courses.
